While navigating Belgrade’s bustling pedestrian and shopping hub of Knez Mihajlova, the team from Blenheim Designers sought refuge from the snow and a cozy spot to recharge between meetings. As they turned the corner onto Kralj Petar Ulica, the warmly lit interior of Kafeterija, a chic coffee shop, beckoned invitingly.

Stepping inside, they were immediately struck by the shop’s spacious and airy ambiance. The original staircase and balconies had been lovingly restored, while a captivating bronze and opal globe light feature drew the eye upwards, hinting at the multiple floors waiting to be explored. Naturally, they couldn’t resist the urge to stay and enjoy coffee from the knowledgeable and friendly staff.

The café’s interior exuded warmth and contemporary style. Comfortable sofas and cozy coffee group pods were arranged atop loose rugs, complementing the tiled floor and rustic brick walls, evoking a sense of homey comfort.

A sprawling timber-clad bar stretched along one side of the café, though it didn’t overshadow the true star of the show—the breathtaking original staircase leading to three more floors dedicated entirely to coffee connoisseurs.

Throughout the space, natural materials abounded, punctuated by occasional glass screens and cement tiles. The Kafeterija owners’ own craftsmanship was evident in the illustrations adorning the concrete walls.

Design-wise, the café embraced a blend of industrial edge and soft femininity, with metal and concrete elements juxtaposed against exposed oak, leather, and floral accents. Every corner of the space was adorned with carefully curated details, adding interest to every glance.

Strategically positioned tables for two offered prime real estate for people-watching along the balustrade, while a large communal table centered around a tree provided the perfect spot for solitary customers to work on their laptops.
