Nestled in London’s trendy Charlotte St just a short walk from Goodge Street Underground is style French Mediterranean restaurant Ninth.
The Ninth is a casual restaurant by experienced chef owner Jun Tanaka which serves up a refined French Mediterranean style food with Jun’s modern twist. Jun has a strong CV, trained in classic French cuisine by Michelin starred chefs Marco Pierre White, Phillip Howard and the Roux Brothers.
The restaurant and bar can cater for up to 90 so the narrow terraced shopfront is nothing to go by.
Ninth restaurant designers exposed brick walls and combined them with dark timber floor, reeded glass tall wine displays, bentwood bistro chairs and warm white lighting emanating from the suspended glass pendants to create a relaxed bistro feel with a classy undertone aided by the green leather deep button upholstered banquette seats.
The area directly in front of the windows was screened by more wine displays, some with glazing and some left exposed but what was evident was the reinforcing bar construction which was executed well and varied apertures created for vertical or horizontal displays. A wall recess with books and lined with shiny copper trim framed the indulgent alcove and coppery textured walls with a Verde Gris effect achieves an opulent feel in comparison to starker ground floor.
The ground floor is similar in many ways through fixtures fitting and furniture to the first floor but has a more relaxed vibe, partly to the simpler wall treatments and partly due to the large bar and gantry located at the front entrance area which was busy making drinks.
White marble round table tops appear on the ground floor, and red leather upholstered bar stools contrast with the green slate tiles and the copper trims of the bar detailing.Ninth restaurant interior designers have cleverly made simple wall lights look like floor lamps by using copper trunking directly below the cut glass shades.
Over two floors the restaurant is best defined by the romantic dining style on the first floor and a more casual bistro feel to the ground floor including bar and front terrace.
