Shoryu Oxford Westgate design revealed by Blenheim Design.
Shoryu Ramen are to open inside fashionable Oxford Westgate Centre in early December 2017. Blenheim Design were chosen to create restaurant design for Tak and Hannah Tokumine, father and daughter team behind well-known Japan Centre and Shoryu Ramen brand. Modern lifestyle will be combined with rich heritage of Japan and Oxford to create second Shoryu site outside of London.
Shoryu’s new interior will fuse elements of Oxford architecture and Japanese building techniques and lighting to create a new generation of traditional ramen restaurants. New restaurant will be situated on the ground floor opposite Westgate Street food market and Superdry shop.
Nine meter long open kitchen will be visible from the the street, it will present a focal point, whilst elevated bar will feature sake warmer, Kirin ice beer and large selection of Japanese cocktails and whiskey.
Stone clad columns with bronze bands of light will be visible from the street. The joinery and furniture draws from the Japanese simplicity which is complimented with simple geometric patterned fabrics. Timber herringbone floor sits under a unique wall created of lime plaster, clay and black paving tiles-‘Hakata wall’
With locations across London in Carnaby, Shoreditch, Soho and Covent Garden, Shoryu Oxford will showcases creative comfort food of tasty ramen, flame grilled yakitori dishes alongside playful cocktails and beer.
